The Shipwrecks of Coron

Destruction turns to destination. A very good site for Scuba diving and snorkeling.

Most of the shipwrecks of Coron Bay result from a sustained air-attacked on the Emperial Japanese Navy dated September 24, 1944. The vessels were sunk into the deep ocean of Coron by bombing attacks by US Navy Aircraft (Fast Carrier Task Force).

Elements of the Japanese Fleet, including a supply convoy were initially attacked in Manila Bay on September 21, those who survived fled to Coron for shelter , but were tracked and re-engaged with devastating effectiveness.
